Kids are often asked a question that what do you wish to become when you grow up! And the most common answer would be “I would like to become a doctor or an engineer.” Unusually, you would hear a little child saying that he wants to be a pharmacist.

Pharmacy wasn’t my first choice that I dreamed about as a kid; but lately, I’m grateful to have made the best decision by choosing this field.

Like doctors, pharmacists also save lives by offering appropriate medication. Like engineers, pharmacists are innovators and provide the state-of-the-art medical breakthrough.

Behind the scenes, pharmacists are the healthcare heroes playing a significant role in helping people during this crucial COVID-19 crisis.

While appreciating these team players, I would like to share the top 5 reasons of why is pharmacy a rewarding career:

1) Interesting career choice: Pharmacy can be very exciting because of the rare balance of independence and interaction with patients, especially during this pandemic situation offering services out on the frontlines.

2) Excellent earning potential: An average salary of a fresh graduate is nearly $120,000. So, it is undeniable that the pharmacy is one of the most financially rewarding careers.

3) Important Member of the Healthcare Team: Pharmacists have become the first stop for all the people who are feeling unwell. And they are the ones who are stepping up to set a good example for the public, manage and prevent the spread of COVID-19 by educating the public and sharing reliable & accurate resources, thus reducing the panic.

4) Unique approach to healthcare: With the unique patient-centered perspective, amidst this pandemic, pharmacists are serving as a role model for adopting healthy behavior. A hospital pharmacist is managing medication therapies for the COVID-19 patients; whereas an industrial pharmacist is actively carrying out clinical trials of a new coronavirus vaccine.

5) Make a Difference: From an oversupply of pharmacists to their shortage with the pandemic situation, pharmacists have put their expertise to work and improve the stressed environment; thus, making this world a healthier place!

And what is the biggest way to help our healthcare professionals? By staying at home and following social distancing guidelines all the time

We’re so grateful for pharmacists and future pharmacists. You truly help save lives!
